What is a Forensic Accountant ?

Forensic accounting covers two broad areas: litigation support and investigative accounting. The AICPA describes litigation services as any professional assistance non lawyers provide to lawyers in the litigation process. Forensic science may be defined as the application of the laws of nature to the laws of man. Forensic scientists examine and interpret evidence and facts in legal cases and offer expert opinions regarding their findings in courts of law. It is often said that other accountants may look at the charts, but forensic accountants actually dig into the body.

Expert Testimony
A forensic accountant may take on fraud auditing engagements and may be a fraud auditor, but he or she will also use other accounting, consulting, and legal skills in broader engagements. In addition to accounting skills, he or she will need a working knowledge of the legal system and excellent communication skills to carry out expert testimony in the courtroom and to aid in other litigation support engagements.

I hired Mr. Rosas as my Forensic Accountant in connection with my challenging and contentious divorce case against my husband. Mr. Rosas was very thorough and informed when communicating with my husband’s attorney and Forensic Accountant.

Furthermore, thanks to his extensive knowledge; he detected an error in my husband’s 1040 form (w-2) that was included in his lawyer’s declaration which was not correct. At the end of the day, what Mr. Rosas was able to achieve absolutely exceeded my expectations.

Because of his extensive knowledge and professionalism I would highly recommend his services without hesitation. Elizabeth U.
